#urbaned Chat Update
The first year of our twice-a-month twitter chat for urban educators has been wildly successful. The discussions have ranged from race and poverty to rebranding public schools to student motivation and more. If you haven’t joined in before, or missed any of the chats, check out the “best of” #urbaned on the Urban Ed Chat wiki.
Along the way, we’ve always encouraged people from all parts of the country to join the chats. You certainly don’t have to teach in a big city to take part. We think voices everywhere need to be involved in the conversations about how to improve urban schools.
That being said, please consider joining us for the final two #urbaned chats of the school year…the first one is tonight, May 20 at 9PM Eastern. The chat will be moderated by educator/author/consultant Barb Blackburn. The topic will be student engagement.
Second will be our year-end chat, which will be held using Google Hangouts on Air June 3 at 9 PM Eastern. Our purpose that night will be sharing success stories from the 2011-12 school year. There are two ways to take part in this hangout:
- You can take part in the live hangout. However, this is limited to 8 people, so you have to let me know in advance by leaving a comment HERE. (New to Google Plus? It’s super easy and fun. Get started today!)
- Also, you’ll be able to watch the chat from my Google Plus page and join the conversation by leaving comments there.
It should be a great way to end the year. Be sure to let me know if you want one of the invites.
