It’s been a long hiatus for #urbaned chat, our regularly scheduled twitter chat about issues affecting urban educators. We took the summer off to recharge and work on some other projects. However, the time is ripe to bring the chat back to life. Starting October 7, #urbaned chat will take place on the first Sunday of every month.

Here’s everything you need to know about #urbaned chat, FAQ style…

When is it?

The first Sunday of each month at 9:00 PM Eastern.

Where is it?

On Twitter!

How Do I Join In?

For this one, please refer to our guide to following a twitter chat. You can also check out this great guide from Cybraryman.

Who Should Take Part?

Everyone! While the chat is geared toward educators working in urban settings, the topics are relevant to a much wider audience. Some past topics have included Rebranding Public Schools, Motivating Struggling Students, Academic Rigor, The Impact of Poverty, and Critical Thinking. Furthermore, a wide range of participants enhances the conversation. So as well like to say, no matter what setting you teach in–urban, rural, suburban, interplanetary–this chat is for you!

For Neil and I (we both teach in Detroit), #urbaned chat has been an amazing experience. We definitely encourage you to get involved and to spread the word. And please check out the #urbaned chat wiki page!
